Three Reflections on HIStory from Daniel 11:
A. GOD’S HAND MAY SEEM HIDDEN
1. Failed alliance between Ptolemy and Seleucus – divorce, murder, scheming, revenge (11:5-7)
2. Where is God in this story? Sometimes it seems that our lives are in the hands of powerful people and institutions, not God’s hands.
B. GOD’S PEOPLE MAY BE DOWNTRODDEN
1. The story zeroes in on the persecution of the God’s people (11:29-33)
2. The persecution of God’s people happens throughout history – and even today.
C. BUT GOD REMAINS SOVEREIGN
1. God wins “at the time of the end” (11:40-45)
The Implication for Us:
Even if we are not history buffs, we each have a personal, spiritual HIStory!
We can chart God’s story in our lives.
Conclusion
Christ the Lord entered the mess of human history. This is the reason that we can find our HIStory in God’s story!

What is one key thing that God said to me this week in light of what has happened?
What is one thing I need to do in light of what God is saying?
