Introduction
Overview of Leviticus. Where are we now? Holy Rhythms (Lev 23-25)
What comes to your mind when you hear “Jubilee”?
The biblical origin of Jubilee comes from Leviticus 25 as a holy rhythm for the land and the people.
The Year of Jubilee presents two profound biblical portraits of God:
A. THE GOD WHO RELEASES
“And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year … proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants … you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan.” (v.10)
B. THE GOD WHO REDEEMS
“… for the land is mine. For you are strangers and sojourners with me … If your brother becomes poor and sells part of his property, then his nearest redeemer shall come and redeem what his brother has sold.” (vv.23, 25)
Conclusion
Jesus as Jubilee! (Lk 4:16-21)
