Knowing The End Game
Introduction
Knowing the End Game is essentially about knowing what is ultimately important at the End.
There are 4 key aspects of Paul’s prayer that gives us the End-Game Focus:
A. THE END-GAME FOCUS ON GOD AS HE DIRECTS US
“Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you”(v.11)
In the End Game, the direction of the Lord is of ultimate importance.
4 key considerations to know the Lord’s direction:
- Discern the source
- Yield your ego to God
- Ask the Lord for wisdom
- Learn from each encounter
B. THE END-GAME FOCUS ON COMMUNITY AS HE UNITES US
“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you” (v.12)
Love is the measure of all things.
Disunity is harmful for 4 reasons:
- It divides the body of Christ
- It propagates a culture of mistrust and suspicion
- It surfaces competitiveness and strife
- It compromises our mission, and brings shame to the Lord.
C. THE END-GAME FOCUS ON CALLING AS HE SANCTIFIES US
“…so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father” (v.13a)
The Greatness of God is cradled by the Holiness of God.
We’ve got to disciple towards a movement of Holiness, not by our own efforts but by His sanctifying work.
D. THE END-GAME FOCUS ON CHRIST AS HE RETURNS FOR US
“…at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.” (v.13b)
Let’s keep our focus on Christ. For in Him, we know how the game would end!
Conclusion
Jesus alone commands the entire stage of the entire End Game!
